Canadian Open Fastpitch Showcase (16U) International Championship

On behalf of the Canadian Open Fastpitch Host Committee, we are pleased to invite your elite level team to apply to compete in the Canadian Open Fastpitch Showcase International Championship taking place July 5 - 11, 2010 in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Don’t miss this great opportunity for young athletes to develop their skills and display their talents by competing against other elite level softball teams in high caliber competition.

About the Canadian Open Fastpitch Showcase International Championship:

• With the recent announcement of the cancellation of the Women’s Division of the 2010 Canada Cup International Women’s Fastpitch Tournament, the original Host Team, the White Rock Renegades, will continue what the Canada Cup Host Committee worked so hard to achieve with their two youth divisions by forming a new committee to host the 2010 Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship.  This includes a Futures (U19) Division and a Showcase (16U) Division.

• The 2010 Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship will be held from July 5 - 11 in Surrey, British Columbia and will carry on the Canada Cup spirit of promoting the development of the great game of softball by helping young female athletes reach for their personal best.

• Canadian Open Fastpitch invites hundreds of college and university scouts to the Canadian Open Fastpitch Championship. By participating in this tournament you will be providing your players with an excellent opportunity to be considered for scholarships to some of the top schools in North America.

•  All players and up to four (4) coaches will be given full Canadian Open Fastpitch accreditation. This will give them complimentary access to both competition venues.

Why compete at the Canadian Open Fastpitch Showcase International Championship?

• The opportunity to celebrate the sport of fastpitch with teams from around North America.
• Hundreds of college and university coaches/scouts invited.
• Plans for this year’s event also features a Canada/USA Women’s national team exhibition series to run Thursday, July 8 to Sunday, July 11. Schedule and more details to be announced at a later date. 
• Host venues located within a 2-hour drive from SeaTac Airport in Seattle, Washington and 10 minutes from the USA/Canada border.
• Favourable US dollar exchange rate.  (As of February 1, 2010; $100 USD would approximately be equal to $104-106 CAD, rate subject to change).

Guidelines to be part of the Canadian Open Fastpitch Showcase International Championship:

• All players competing in the 2010 Canadian Open Fastpitch Showcase International Championship must be born in 1993 or more recently.
• Elite level teams only.
• Entry fee will be $600 CAD.
• The Canadian Open Fastpitch Selection Committee will make the final decision on who will compete in the Canadian Open Fastpitch Showcase International Championship.
• PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED within 15 days of application. All payments will be processed, teams not selected to participate will receive a full refund of entry fee.
• Once a team is accepted, no refunds will be issued after March 31, 2010.
